15 week update

Baby is the size of a navel orange this week.

How far along? 15 weeks.

Total weight gain/measurements: 4 lbs.
Maternity clothes: I ordered one pair of maternity pants. They are super comfortable and stretchy.
Stretch marks: None.
Sleep: Still not sleeping well. Have been falling asleep early days I worked but still waking up alot.
Best moment this week: Putting the pregnancy out there and people being really nice about it. I dont know why, but I was a little worried about peoples reactions.
Worst Moment This Week? A little TMI but the antibiotics gave me a yeast infection which only really bothered me at night and made it IMPOSSIBLE to sleep. Yuck! Sorry for sharing that haha.
Miss anything? Coffee! Up until this week I've not had any interest in the stuff but seeing everyone drink it lately made me want it but I havent let myself.
Movement: None.
Food cravings: Not really. Still eating lots of fruit. Ive wanted donuts for weeks but still havent had any.
Anything making you queasy or sick? Nope.
Gender: Dont know yet.
Labour signs: Nope.
Symptoms: Fatigue, out of breath, light headaches.
Belly button in or out? In. Belly ring too.
Happy or moody most of the time: Happy!

I had my first OB appointment this week. So far I like the doctor and her office is extremely nice. She mainly just asked me a bunch of questions, checked my blood pressure and tried to find the heartbeat but all we heard were little kicks! They were loud and I didnt know you could hear those so that was interesting. I have an ultrasound at 18 weeks and hopefully, if peanut cooperates, we will find out the sex!

14 week update

Baby is the size of a lemon this week.

How far along? 14 weeks.
Total weight gain/measurements: 3 lbs.
Maternity clothes: None so far. Im mostly wearing leggings these days though.
Stretch marks: None. Always tired throughout the day.
Sleep: I have difficulty staying asleep and get uncomfortable a lot.
Best moment this week: Hearing the heart beat.
Worst Moment This Week? I woke up one morning and my belly piercing was bleeding and a piece of scar tissue was sticking out. It eventually came off but it was sore for a few days.I dont know what caused that to happen, maybe pressure as its pushing the belly button out but its been fine since. I put my maternity belly ring later that day.
Miss anything? Getting dressed easily!
Movement: None.
Food cravings: Fruit. Mainly cantelope, oranges, kiwi.
Anything making you queasy or sick? Nope.
Gender: Dont know yet.
Labour signs: Nope.
Symptoms: Fatigue, out of breath.
Belly button in or out? In.
Happy or moody most of the time: Happy!

At my appointment this week she told me I was low on B12, which is partly whats making me tired so I'm taking B12 vitamins. I also apparently had a bladder infection, which apparently can happen, so was put on antibiotics. Otherwise everything was good. Finally got a call from the OB and I'm scheduled for my first appointment with her next week.

Special Announcement

I havent done much blogging the past few months and it makes me sad because I really do enjoy it. I had an unexpected new year surprise in January… Im Pregnant! It had me feeling awful- bad nausea, exhaustion, and a little bit stressed, that blogging was kind of forgotten. Of course it was a complete shock as I wasnt planning to start a family for a few years, but with time ive come to accept it and am more excited every week. I am currently 16 weeks and having a difficult time finding things to wear everyday because im not really big enough for maternity wear yet, but a lot of things just look odd these days. Other than that ive been feeling pretty good lately, just tired. Ive had one ultrasound so far, pictured above, at 10 weeks 5 days. Baby was very mobile, waving its arms around which was very cute. It was so tiny and you cant really make out a whole lot that early on, it looked like a little peanut shape to me so ive been calling it peanut. Im looking forward to finding out what the sex is so we can pick out all the cute little outfits and everything. I havent really bought anything yet but id better get started as I'm due August 29th and want to have everything ready before im too big and uncomfortable to be shopping and setting everything up.  I decided I wanted to start blogging my progress week by week and am going to start back at week 14. Ill start with week 14 tomorrow and then the others will follow until im caught up, then they will be posted weekly with regular blog posts inbetween (hopefully!).

Lush Santa's Lip Scrub

Ive never tried a lip scrub before and this time of year when your lips are constantly dry, cracked and sore seemed like the perfect time. I saw lush had a holiday lip scrub with a cola scent and flavour so I thought id give it a try. Though I must say cola isnt very festive.

Made with sugar and coconut oil to moisturise and extracts of cherries and dates for colour and flavour. As you can see in the pictures, there were tiny little hearts on the top which I took off because I didnt want them getting everywhere. The red kind of stays on your finger if you dont wash (or lick) it off but doesnt stain your lips. It worked well at removing dryness and made my lips feels soft and ready for lipstick if I wanted to wear it. So far im a fan and I think this little jar will last me quite a while.

Pixi Tinted Brilliance Balm in Radiant Rose

Every brand has these big chubby lip products these days. Ive heard of Pixi from the uk bloggers but never saw it here it canada until target came. I remember someone saying these were one of their favourites so when I saw them in the store I thought id give it a try. I went for this pinky shade in no. 5 Radiant Rose. Unlike a lot of the other balms this one is not meant to stain the lips, its just a tinted balm. Its super moisturising on the lips and has a minty smell, almost like toothpaste which is nice because it will keep you smelling fresh and clean. The colour is more pigmented than I was expecting for a balm. Its very buildable but can look very glossy if too much is applied, which isnt my favourite look. Id like to try more shades because I dont wear alot of pinks to be honest, especially not during this time of year. Have you tried these? What are your thoughts.

Winter Base

Winter is the worst time for my skin. For the majority of the year I have very easy going skin, I dont have any problems because I have normal skin. But once the cold Canadian weather returns, it starts to get dry, tight, and itchy. When it comes to foundation I have to watch what I use to avoid prominent dry patches.

The number one important thing for me is to exfoliate to remove the dry skin. I do this at night so I dont have red skin in the morning. A good moisturiser is important aswell. I use a heavier one at night so when I wake up my skin is smooth and hydrated, and apply the La-Roche Posay Hydreane Legere, a light hydrating moisturiser in the morning. Next is priming. I find this makes a big difference because it smooths everything out to make the foundation apply nicely. My favourite is Laura Mercier Hydrating Primer. Its kinda pricey but is the best ice tried.

As for the actualy foundation, right now im using Revlon Nearly Naked. This is definitely not my favourite foundation but it gives a light coverage and a glowy or dewy look to the skin. I find the finish works well with my skin. Anything too matte just accentuates any dry patches which is exactly what I try to avoid. I like the coverage this gives- my skin still looks like skin. Although the colour is a tad too dark for me which is super annoying, though after blending down the neck you cant even tell.

What are your favourite foundations for dry skin? Id love to know.

Nyx Terra Cotta

My blush collection is slowly growing and ive been trying to branch out to more colours. Ive heard about this shade from Nyx for years and never really thought it would be something id like. I have a blush from Mac in Peachtwist, which is a burnt orange with a gold shimmer, simialr but this one so I thought why not. I know it looks scary in the swatch but I assure you, its beautiful on the cheeks and not that intense (I heavily swatched just for photographing purposes). It gives a beautiful hint of colour that on my fair skin, almost gives a contoured look. I think its a great colour for those dont-want-to-wear-alot-of-makeup days because its fairly natural on the skin but gives a really nice healthy glow. Ive heard its a dupe for Nars Douceur, though ive never tried it myself so I cant say. But for about a third of the price, this is a great one to try.
