Daily Makeup

Nars blush in Sin / Marcelle Xtension Plus mascara / Benefit Erase Paste / Mac Shygirl / Annabelle liquid liner / ROC spf / Revlon Photoready / Annabelle shadow in Cloud / Sigma F80 flattop kabuki

When getting ready, I tend to grab the same things everyday because when im just going to work or other daily activities, I dont like to spend a lot of time getting ready. These are my current daily go to products.

I start with the ROC Soleil Protection (basically an spf) on the face. I like this because it doesnt smell like a sunscreen or leave my skin sticky. I then apply my favourite foundation, Revlon Photoready, using Sigmas F80 brush. It gives a natural, slightly glowy look to the skin and is the perfect shade for me. To conceal what often looks like black eyes, I use Benefits Erase Paste in fair, and apply a little bit of Nars Sin on the cheeks.

For eyes, I like something simple and brightening, so a champagney shade is my go to colour. My favourite is Annabelles Cloud. I finish off with a bit of Annabelles liquid liner on my top lashline and a few coats of Marcelle Xtension Plus mascara. For lips, on most days I go for Macs Shygirl, but when I want a bit more colour ill go for Syrup.

I was prepared to love you, and never expect anything of you

top, leggings and ring - H&M

I havent done an outfit post in months, so I thought it was time I did. A lot of the photos came out blurry (damn you camera) but here are a few shots of this new top I got at h&m. Its easy to wear and is super comfortable. I also just realized everything im wearing is also from h&m.

An Ode To Brown

I never really spent a lot of time on eyeshadow. That has never been the makeup product I was obsessed with and needed every shade of. I tend to go for a a champagney taupe all over the lid and call it a day. But lately ive been loving browns. Nothing too dark, because for day time I dont think that would look right, but a nice mid tone brown through out the lid gives a slightly more made up look and ive found it makes my green eyes pop a little more.

A few ive been using include the Benefit Creaseless Cream Shadow in Bunny Hop, Mac Wedge and Mulled Cider, the lighter shades from an elf neutral palette (which I dont really like as they have a lot of fall out and are too shimmery) and one from an Elizabeth Arden duo.

Manetenance

Its surprising that as I am a hairstylist, I dont talk a whole lot about hair. I thought id share with you the products ive been using on my hair lately and update you every now and again.

Let me start off by saying I have thin, fine hair that I have been in the process of growing out almost for two years now. It was super damaged from all the colouring and experimentation I did when I was in hair school. I went from having virgin brown hair, to caramel hi-lights, being totally blonde, and then bright red. I was left with a lot of breakage and had to cut a lot of length off which was a sad moment, and since have been trying to get it back to a healthy state.

For shampoo and conditioner I love TIGI Bed Head Urban Antidotes Level 2 Recovery. They are targeted towards dry, damaged hair to help repair and bring moisture. The scent is lovely and really makes the hair feel soft and smooth. These huge bottles have lasted me months and months and its definitely one of my favourite shampoos and conditioners.

After coming out of the shower I wrap my hair up for maybe five minutes and then take it down and spray a bit of a leave-in to help comb through without causing more damage. Your hair is more prone to breakage when wet, so be sure to use a wide tooth comb or vent brush only. And be gentle! Ive been using this sample of Matrix Miracle Treat Lotion Spray the past month or so and really enjoying it.

When my hair was feeling like straw, I was obsessed with oils. They add moisture to the hair and leave it super silky and manageable. I havent been using it much lately, but when I feel like my hairs drier (more so the ends if im in need of a trim) I use a pump or two of the Joico K-Pak Colour Therapy Restorative Styling Oil. It smells nice and leaves the hair silky soft. It can also be applied to dry hair for added shine, but ive never tried it personally.

Then I just let my hair air dry until 80-90 percent dry, then whip out my blow drier and blow out my bangs and just messily dry the rest with my hands and flat iron away.

I used to use a lot more products on my hair but ive found it weighs it down a lot and really doesnt need it. I hope you found this interesting and if you ever have any hair related questions feel free to ask away.

A Peak Into My Makeup Bag

Im not someone who carries around half their collection of makeup around with them wherever they go. Im also not someone who likes to touch up their makeup throughout the day, as ive said before. That being said, these things are more just what I like to have when I stay overnight somewhere and want to have a little something to perk up my face.

To even out my skin a bit I have the Marcell BB cream. Being a BB cream it obviously doesnt do much for coverage, but thats not something I generally look for in the first place and when im just at my boyfriends or not doing anything special im not too bothered with how my skin is. For my dark circles I have Maybelline Mineral Power concealer. Because im so pale and can often look a bit lifeless, I like to have my Nars blush in Sin on hand to bring a little life back into my face. Plus the subtle gold shimmer gives a nice glow to the skin. I apply that with an annabelle blush brush- cheap but I like the shape of this because its flat on two sides.

For eyes I have Marcell Xtension Plus mascara, Annabelle liquid liner and a Body Shop shimmer pencil for an inner corner highlight. Lip products always change but right now I have Mac Syrup as ive been wearing it a lot lately. Again because I stay at my boyfriends every few days I keep a mini micellar water to remove my makeup and a travel toothbrush in there. Lastly is a clip, because you just never know when you may need one.

Avene Cold Cream

Dry skin is a real drag. Ive been on the hunt for something that helps my flaking winter skin and having heard many things about Avenes products, I thought id try out their cold cream for very dry sensitive skin. Now let me start off with how awful this stuff smells. Every time I go to use it I forget how much I dislike the scent of it. Scent aside, this cream is targeted towards anyone(children, aldults) to nourish dry skin anywhere on the body. Its supposed to be good for people with skin issues such as eczema, though I bought it solely for my face.

The rich formula is a bit odd to apply; when you rub it in the consistency changes and gets a bit hard to blend into the skin, and a little goes a long way. It leaves my skin feeling a bit tacky, so I definitely would recommend only using this at night or if your just sitting around the house for a few hours as it takes a bit to settle into the skin. Definitely not something to use a makeup base. This seems to help my dry patches but I dont think I would purchase it again because I personally find it a bit hard to work with. Plus that smell..

Mac Shy Girl

Adding to my collection of peachy/orange toned Mac lipsticks, I recently purchased Shy Girl. It is a peach toned nude, that everyone seems to love. I think it looks best on darker skin tones, because on my fair skin it can wash me out a little if im not careful. It definitely goes best with a darker eye. Being a cremesheen, it applies smoothly, is hydrating and slightly glossy which makes it a wearable shade, but not with the best staying power. Definitely something you'll to reapply throughout the day unfortunately. Regarless, I think its a beautiful shade and ive been wearing it a lot the last month or so. It never leaves my bag.
