A Few New Things

haul, essie spaghetti strap, maybelline lash sensational mascara, maybelline color sensational lipstick let me pink, nyx butter lipstick candy buttons, essence super fine liner pen

Maybelline Colour Sensational Lipstick in Let Me Pink
There was a good sale on these and I thought this would be a great fall/winter colour. I like the formula of these lipsticks so I hope this colour works for me.

Essie Spaghetti Strap Nailpolish
Again, good sale on these. Although regardless I probably would have bought an Essie polish anyway because I'm obsessed. This looks like a really nice peachy nude shade that I'll probably wear a ton.

Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara
Ive heard(and read) so many great things about this and it was on sale for half price so I thought it was a good time to pick it up even though I just opened a new mascara last week. Whoops. Maybelline mascaras are some of my fav so I have high hopes for this one.

Essence Super Fine Liquid Liner Pen
I havent really tried anything from Essence, but they seem to have good reviews and are really inexpensive. I tried this on my hand instore and it seemed to have decent pigmentation for a $3 liner so I grabbed one and will give it a go. If it works out well I may have a new liner for half the price of my current one.

Nyx Butter Lipstick in Candy Buttons
I swatched a ton of these and ended up with the most me colour possible. It looks like a lovely peach (of course) and is super soft and yes, buttery. I kinda wish I had picked up more colours but maybe in the future.

Tarte Amazonian Clay Blushes

I've built up quite the little collection of these little beauties, I thought I'd do a full review of them all.
One of the main reasons I love Tarte is because of the benefits to the skin their products are packed with. No matter your skin type, the amazonian clay blushes will do great things for your skin. Minimizing oil, and hydrating the skin. They claim to be long lasting-12 hours to be exact, and are very pigmented. What's not to love? Also, there are a ton of colours to choose from.

As you can tell, I go for the same kinds of colours. I love my peaches and peachy pinks. My first blush (the one with the older, different packaging) and first in the photo is Achiote. I'd never heard of this one but it stood out to me in the store and looked like a really nice coraly pink shade. Unfortunately this isn't one of my favourites. I only like it on certain days, where as others I find it almost looks like the kind of redness one would try to cover up, not get from a blush. Maybe it's just my pale skin tone, I don't really know. The second one I bought was Captivating. It was part of a summer collection and limited at the time, so I knew if I didn't grab it then and there I'd likely miss out on it. It's actually permanent now, so no worries if you want this one. It's a gorgeous peach shade, perfect for summer time. I sometimes mix this one with Achiote and it gives a really nice colour to the cheeks.

Exposed was one I got based off blogger/youtuber raves. I remember Estee and Meg talking about this one way back when and it stuck with me. It's a neutral mauve shade that isn't something I think I would gravitate towards otherwise. I think it's a nice colour, definitely more suited for fall/winter. It gives a contoured look to the face which I think is really nice because it's like a two in one product. I don't wear this one too often but it is a nice one. Lastly I have Blissful. I've only had this one a few months and it's become one of my most reached for blushes. It is a warm peachy pink that I find is perfect for daily wear, goes with mostly everything and has to be my favourite of the four.

Are you a fan of the Amazonian Clay blushes? Leave me your favourites below!

Summer Nail Picks

revlon, essie, color envy

When summer comes around I love to grab the bright, bold nail colours. As we can tell, I love Essie. There are an odd few from other brands that I love, but majority of my most used are Essie polishes.

I'm going to go through the colours by colour, starting with the purples. That bottom one there is Essie Go Ginza. I just bought this one recently and love it already. It's a muted purple that goes with basically anything, and also looks nice on short nails. Revlon ColorStay Gel Envy in Up The Ante is a bright purple, leading more on the magenta side. I love this one year round but the brightness is great for summer time. Essie Lapiz of Luxury is a more blue toned purple in comparison. The two blues are pretty similar, but nail polish fanatics will spot the difference. Essie Bikini So Teeny is such a cute shade of baby blue. Revlon Dreamer is a little bit lighter (also a bit cheaper if thats an issue for you. Both lovely. I believe this is a summer release, but I'm not one hundred percent sure. The turquoise I'm super excited for. I havent tried it yet, but Essie Where's My Chauffeur looks like the nicest toe shade. I love a good turquoise. That top peachy shade is Essie Tarte Deco. Its a very bright neon peachy coral. I think its nice on the toes (with a tan) but a little much on the fingers for me. Not quite as bright, and leading more on the orange side of things is Essie Sunday Funday. Again, great toe shade. And lastly, that one that looks red in the photo but is actually pink (though it does look kinda red on to be honest) is Essie Watermelon. An all year beauty but I'm sporting this on my toes right now and pinks always seem like a summer thing. I'm not one for the bright barbie pinks so this ones right up my alley.

I had many more I could have added but that would have mad for one long post. Leave me your summer nail picks below!

Revlon HD Lipsticks

Revlon are one of my favourite drugstore brands, especially when it comes to lip products. I think they do some of the best affordable takes on everything from matte to moisurising. When they came out with the HD lipsticks a little while ago I was interested but held back as most of the colours were quite bright and not something I typically wear. I noticed they were buy one get one half off one day and even though I'm supposed to be on a lipstick ban, I couldn't resist that sale as they are about twelve bucks. I was going to try them eventually so at least I was saving a few pennies.

I swatched every shade and was uming and ahing for a good ten minutes, unsure what shades to go for that I was actually going to get use out of. My first choice was the typical pinky nude in Magnolia. Its a very easy to wear shade, and I know this will be worn a lot. The second shade is Tulip, a kind of orangey coral. I don't quite know how to explain the colour of this one and it doesn't pick up in photos very well. Its such a pleasing colour to look at that I needed it despite the fact that it might have been too orange for my liking. Luckily, its not too orange and Ive actually worn this a few times already because love it. Finally a colour that isn't too bright that it scares me out of wearing it in public!

The lipstick formula is really creamy and almost feels like a balm to apply. They're pigmented and last really well. They don't fade patchy, which is great as I'm not really one for touching up, and dont cling to dry patches. They feel really moisturising on and I think are going to be some of my new favourites. I just may have to go look at those other shades again..

Currently On My Tv

Today I thought I'd share some of the tv series I've been binge watching lately. I haven't been a fan of actually watching things on tv at set times for a couple of years. Instead I buy the series on dvd so I can be lazy on the couch and watch as I play with the little one and do my daily things, or watch online on my laptop in bed.

For lazing around days I've been loving rewatching Gilmore Girls. Most females have seen and love this show about a mother daughter relationship. Lorrelai became a mother at sixteen to Rory, who is now sixteen herself. They are very close, love coffee and are very hilarious and sarcastic. They are often found in Lukes Diner with said coffee in the small town of Stars Hollow. There are so many great characters and funny things going on in this show I just love it. If you havent seen it I recommend checking it out.

Another show I've been watching religiously on my couch for months now is Greys Anatomy. I was obsessed with this one for the first few seasons and loved the original cast, but as they all started leaving the show I wasn't as into it, but now being on season 9 its getting good again. I'm sure everyone knows what this one is but the show follows the loves of new surgery interns in a hospital, from the first day until actually becoming doctors. It's a really good one and also has some awesome music in every episode as an added bonus.

Lastly is the one I watch before bed. This is usually the one that me and my boyfriend wastch together in bed and I usuallu end up falling asleep to. Thats not to say it isnt good-because it is-I'm just exhausted by this point of the day. Currently we are watching The X Files, an oldy but a goody. This one reminds me of my childhood because I used to watch it all the time. Mulder and Scully are FBI agents assigned to the weird, usually unexplained cases. Aleins, mutants and monsters, weird powers and all sorts of unusual things happen in this show and it's so addictive. They're coming out with a new season next year I believe which we're super excited about. If you're easily spooked or don't like weird/semi-gross things this may not be the best one for you.

Those are my current watch religiously shows though there are more I watch every now and again, but I'll leave them for another time. What are you currently watching and what would you recommend? Leave them below!

Trip To The Zoo!

Last week we piled into the car and went off to the Elmvalle Zoo, which is a small zoo not too faraway. It's a perfect zoo for small children as there are a lot of trees and shaded areas, and there isn't as much ground to walk between animals. It was the perfect day to go as it wasn't too hot out. I decided to wear my H&M overalls that I bought a few years back with a stripey tee and I was quite comfortable.

This zoo was nice because you can actually get up close to the animals, and feed them too. The giraffes were probably mine and Lily's favourite. They came down to your face and ate right off your hands with their massive tongues. Though we didn't feed them ourselves. The little goat petting area was cute aswell. One goat wouldn't leave my side and tried to steal Lily's stuffed cat, hah!

There weren't too many of the bigger animals to see, mianly monkeys and lemurs, but it was fun to get out and see Lily's reaction to everything. She was exhausted by the end of the day but I think she enjoyed it as much as the rest of us.

The Balm Mary-Lou Manizer

mary lou manizer, the balm, mary luminizer, hilighter, highlighter

I've never been a huge highlighter fan. They look pretty but sometimes can be too much, or just don't look right on my skin tone. I have a few sample sizes of cream highlighters, and use them here and there but have never found something that really made me want to run out and buy a full size of. After hearing about The Balms Mary Lou-Manizer several times over the last year or two, I wanted to try it out myself. I swatched it in store but was hesitant to spend the money and not get along with it. When I had a coupon code on feelunique in my inbox, I decided I would just give it a go.

It comes in super cute packaging and is a champagne gold shade. It is quite pigmented so just a small tap of the brush and that's plenty. Otherwise it'll be glitter central on your cheek. I think it looks really pretty though it can look a little too harsh and obvious so dont go overboard! I love the glow it gives to my skin, though I'm not sure it would be an everyday product for me for this reason. It makes a really gorgeous goldy eyeshadow aswell and I have been using it quite a bit on my eyes for a quick sweep of colour. Multi use products are my favourite. I am a fan and would recommend this to the highlighter lovers out there. If you're afraid of a shimmer look I probably wouldn't go for this one though.
